Plan Structure
The Coffee Technician program has a total of six courses. Learners begin with the basic course and progress through the gradual levels of the program. Basic courses include electrical, hydraulics, water quality and preventive maintenance, covering the electro-mechanical nature of the coffee machine and considerations for maintaining efficient operation.
Each course promotes a safety culture and learners are assessed for competency through written and practical examinations. After passing these exams, learners will receive a certificate confirming that they have successfully completed the course. Certificate holders will be able to demonstrate their continued professional development, designed by the world's professional coffee authority and leading industry experts.
Since this is a skills-based program that requires practical exams, all courses require some form of face-to-face instruction and assessment. Many teachers choose to conduct theoretical knowledge and lectures online, followed by face-to-face activities and practical examinations. You can expect basic courses equivalent to two days of classes, and intermediate and advanced courses equivalent to 3-4 days each.
Learn the practical skills you need to safely locate, troubleshoot and replace the hydraulic components in the coffee machine, and how to plan and wire the water supply line connected to the coffee machine.
Fundamentals of Hydraulics is an introductory course covering the key concepts of machine hydraulics and some of the practical skills required to apply this knowledge. At the end of the course, learners will be able to state the sequence of various hydraulic circuits and the components in the brewing and steam systems. These systems include access in espresso machines and batch brewers. Students will be able to state and describe fundamental aspects of fluid dynamics. Participants will gain hands-on experience with various hand tools and plumbing fittings; and will demonstrate successful connection of the coffee machine to a water source.
Basic introductory course of electrical machinery
Covers the key concepts of the electrical system of the coffee machine and the practical skills required to apply this knowledge safely. At the end of the course, learners will be able to identify and explain the use of electrical components in coffee equipment; describe the basic operating principles of various coffee machine electrical circuits; describe the basic operating characteristics of electricity in its different configurations; explain the interaction with electrical equipment Related hazards and demonstrate appropriate safety procedures; demonstrate the safe and appropriate use of electrical test tools to measure voltage, continuity and resistance; demonstrate proper connection of the plug to the cord and successful power supply to the coffee machine.
Middle Level Course-Diagnosis and Repair
The intermediate diagnosis and repair course is further developed on the knowledge of coffee equipment parts and correct system functions introduced in the hydraulic basic and basic electrical courses. It introduces the knowledge and skills to identify common coffee equipment failure symptoms, perform simple troubleshooting to diagnose their causes, complete common repairs safely and effectively, and adjust the key to coffee equipment operating parameters.
Water Quality and Preventive Maintenance Fundamentals Introductory Course
Covers key concepts for preventive maintenance of water treatment systems and coffee machines. The course also introduces some of the practical skills required to apply this knowledge safely. At the end of the course, learners will be able to identify the typical components, functions, impacts and maintenance of common water treatment systems; define key water quality parameters and quality recommendations; show the measurement of water quality composition; describe the goals of the preventive maintenance plan; identify traditional espresso machines The components in the machine, batch brewer and coffee grinder that require preventive maintenance, and show the simple steps to use the appropriate tools and materials to perform these tasks.
Basic Course of Water Quality and Preventive Maintenance
Further development on the basis of risk and simple handling methods for coffee equipment. In IWT, learners will deepen their understanding of water treatment system components and processing capabilities, the principles of scale formation and corrosion risks, and the system requirements of various coffee equipment types. Hands-on activities include assembling, installing, adjusting, and maintaining water treatment systems, as well as using various measurement equipment and techniques.
