CQI Q Grader Calibration, make-up and preparation information
Tasse passed the CQI Q Arabica Grader course in April! Before the upcoming November course, we would like to share information about the calibration system and the arrangement of the make-up examination so that everyone can know more before signing up.
CQI Q Grader is a scoring system for evaluating the quality of Arabica coffee. It ensures that scorers have consistency and accuracy in evaluating the same coffee samples. Novices also have a chance to successfully pass the exam and may even have an advantage over the barista.
However, if you lack confidence, we offer preparatory classes to give you more time to get used to the high-intensity training before the formal six-day course. This is a one-lesson double certificate course, at the same time can obtain SCA Sensory Foundation certificate. The Q Grader certificate is valid for 36 months and requires taking a calibration exam every three years to renew the certificate. If you are not qualified, you can make up the exam within 18 months. After completing the second year of the first calibration, you can apply to become a Q teaching assistant or tutor.
